These were the words of one of the wisest of men , Mark Twain , which makes our hearts swell with pride when we remember we were born in this land where the greatest of minds were cultivated. In an attempt to uphold this great culture , SPICMACAY , the society for the promotion of Indian classical music and culture amongst youth , has been working relentlessly from the day of its establishment to this day , to generate awareness among the youth about the treasure left behind for us by our forefathers.
SPICMACAY was established by Dr. Kiran Seth in 1977 at IIT Delhi and now it has some 200 chapters around the world and holds over 1500 events anually. The organisation spreads its message through various events which include lecture demonstrations by the artists , fests ,Baithaks , Viraasat ( a week long festival comprising of performances in classical and folk arts , literature , crafts etc..), yoga camps and conventions.
